A native of Kentucky, John Q. Binhlam, MD, FAAO, received his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University (VU). Feeling the call to pursue Medicine after dealing with serious illnesses in his father, Dr. Binhlam pursued his journey to understand illnesses and help people when he attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Dr. Binhlam later completed his Internal Medicine residency at Indiana University before returning to VU to pursue his subspecialty residency in Medical and Surgical Dermatology.
Dr. Binhlam is an active mentor and educator of medical students, residents, and other physicians. He has served in various societal leadership positions; most notably, as past-President of the Nashville Dermatology Society, the Tennessee Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the national American Society of Mohs Surgery.
As a strong advocate for patient health and rights, he regularly participates in advocacy efforts on behalf of the American Academy of Dermatology Association and the One Voice Against Cancer Coalition.
In his spare time, Dr. Binhlam is a golf hacker, yet he remains supremely dedicated to his two four-legged children: a spunky Westie, Abby Sugarpie, and his Shichon puppy, Princess Paisley.

Christy is a Licensed Medical Aesthetician, Certified Laser Technician, and Phlebotomist. She received her license in 2006 after graduating top in her class at Georgia Career Institute. She has been practicing for the past 16 years as the lead aesthetician in medical aesthetic centers. Her passion for helping people and lifting their self-esteem fuels her desire to provide result-driven skin care.
HydraFacials, DermaPlaning, MircoDermabrasion, Advanced Chemical Peels, MicroNeedling, PRP Collagen Therapy, Laser Hair Removal, Laser Rejuvenation, and Noninvasive Body Contouring are some of her many skills. She brings to our practice a unique combination of personal compassion and caring along with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Christy enjoys servicing her guest by establishing a treatment program and an at home product regimen to help them achieve their optimal skin beauty and wellness. Christy believes that investing in your skin is a benefit that lasts a lifetime.
In her free time, Christy enjoys the outdoors, travel, and quality time with her husband and daughter.
Zofia has worked alongside Dr. Binhlam for more than a decade, giving her a deep understanding of the practice, our patients, and the thoughtful approach to care that defines Advanced Skin & Laser Center and Binhlam Aesthetics.
As Patient Coordinator, Zofia works closely with Dr. Binhlam and our aesthetic team to help patients navigate their treatment journey with confidence.
She takes the time to understand each patient’s individual goals, helps guide them through recommended treatment options, and provides personalized support from consultation through follow-up. Her extensive experience, compassion, and attention to detail help create a seamless and elevated patient experience.
Zofia’s warmth and commitment to excellence reflect the heart of our mission and values. Outside of the practice, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, being outdoors, connecting with nature, and tending to her flower garden.
Sonia has worked alongside Dr. Binhlam for four years, bringing a strong background in healthcare management as well as prior experience in customer service and operations. Her leadership experience includes managing both plastic surgery and hair restoration practices, giving her a broad understanding of practice operations, team development, patient experience, and the importance of personalized care.
As Practice Manager, Sonia oversees team development and practice operations while working closely with Dr. Binhlam to help implement his vision for both Advanced Skin & Laser Center and Binhlam Aesthetics. Her leadership approach centers on maintaining high standards, creating consistency throughout the practice, supporting the team, and ensuring that every patient interaction reflects the values and level of care the practice is committed to providing.
Sonia values collaboration, accountability, and creating an environment where both patients and team members feel supported. Outside of the practice, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
